Maharashtra: Two income officers arrested for demanding over Rs 3 lakh bribe in Palghar
Palghar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested two income officers for allegedly demanding a bribe of over Rs 3 lakh from a person for making entries in land information in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, an official mentioned on Tuesday.
Offences below the Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered in opposition to nayab tehsildar Pradeep Mukne (53) and circle officer Sanjay Sonawane (53) of Vasai tehsil workplace, who had been arrested on Monday night, mentioned Navnath Jagtap, the deputy superintendent of police ACB Palghar.
The accused officers had allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh every from the complainant to make some entries within the land information after a land deal, he mentioned.
Whereas Mukne settled for Rs 1.50 lakh, Sonawane had sought Rs 1.90 lakh, following which the complainant approached the ACB, he mentioned.
Sonawane was caught accepting Rs 1.50 lakh from the complainant on the tehsil workplace on Monday, the official mentioned, including that additional probe is underway.
