The Maharashtra authorities on Monday introduced Rs 4 lakh compensation to Sunita Ghosha, spouse of the late Ramesh Ghosha (51), who drowned through the incessant rains in Gatipada-Charoti in Dahanu on 4 July.

Ramesh’s physique was discovered a day later and the autopsy report by the Cottage Hospital Dahanu confirmed a case of drowning as water had entered his lungs, inflicting his dying.

On Monday, Dahanu Tehsildar Abhijit Deshmukh, together with Ashima Mittal, Extra Collector and Mission Officer, visited the sufferer’s home and issued the cheque from the Income Division because it was a dying resulting from pure calamity.
