The swimming world championships have been rocked by terrifying scenes after American Anita Alvarez fainted whereas within the pool and was rescued from drowning by her coach.

The 25-year-old’s coach, Andrea Fuentes, with out skipping a beat, leaped into the pool and managed to tug her to the highest earlier than bringing her to the sting of the pool to get instant medical consideration.

Fuentes advised MARCA that the plan for the swimmer is to relaxation all day Thursday in hopes of her with the ability to compete in Friday’s workforce free occasion. Nevertheless, Alvarez will undergo testing within the subsequent few days to attempt to determine the reason for her fainting.

The 25-year-old Alvarez was competing for a medal in her third journey to the World Championships. She didn’t see the rostrum, ending seventh. Japanese swimmer Yukiko Inui took gold, Marta Fiedina received silver for Ukraine and Evangelia Platanioti earned bronze for Greece.
